Mora Clock Details

This Swedish Mora clock dates from the 1800s and carries an unusually complete record of its own history: the dial is signed by the clockmaker E. Bergquist, and inscribed inside the case is the year 1856 and the village of Aata where it was made. Named, dated, and located — this level of documentation is rare among surviving Mora clocks, most of which carry little or no maker information at all.

About this style of Mora Clock

This Swedish Mora clock from the 1800s has a dial signed by E. Bergquist, with the date 1856 and the village Aata inscribed inside the clock. It has a working longcase mechanism with pendulum, 2 weights, and a bell chime on the hour.

Mora Clock Set-Up

Setting up a Mora clock is straightforward, and full instructions are included with the clock. The two weights are hung at the end of their chains/cords, and the pendulum is attached. Swinging the pendulum starts the clock running. The mechanism is a 7-day movement, meaning the clock needs winding once a week.
