Mora Clock Details

This exceptional antique Swedish Mora clock from the 1800s is a rare survivor in its original grey and gold paint — untouched and unrestored, making it a highly desirable collector's piece. Original paintwork of this quality and age is increasingly scarce, and grey with gold is among the most sought-after colourways in the Mora clock tradition.

About this style of Mora Clock

This antique Swedish Mora clock dates from the 1800s and retains its original paint — a soft grey case with gold detailing. Surviving original paintwork from this period is rare and especially prized by collectors, as it preserves the clock's authentic two-hundred-year-old finish rather than a later repaint. Grey-and-gold is also among the most sought-after Mora colourways for Gustavian and contemporary Scandinavian interiors. The clock takes the classic hourglass silhouette of the Swedish longcase clock, the counterpart to the grandfather clock.

Like all our clocks it is a traditional weight-and-pendulum 7-day longcase mechanism, and full set-up instructions are included.

Mora Clock Set-Up

Grey and gold Mora clocks represent a particularly elegant variant of the Swedish Gustavian decorative tradition. The cool grey palette, typical of northern Swedish folk art from Dalarna County, pairs with gilt detailing in a way that suits both period interiors and contemporary Scandinavian-style spaces.
