Mora Clock Details
This is a vintage Swedish Mora clock dating from the second half of the 20th century, continuing the centuries-old tradition of Swedish longcase clockmaking — the Scandinavian counterpart to the grandfather clock — in its classic tall, curved case form.
This Mora Clock has a cream painted finish with gold painted highlighting details. While not an antique, it's a genuine 20th-century example and a more accessible alternative to an 18th- or 19th-century piece.
The clock retains a working longcase movement with pendulum and two weights, striking a bell chime on the hour. It is a traditional 7-day mechanism, rewound once a week, with full set-up instructions included.
About this style of Mora Clock
Later 20th century Mora Clocks continue the centuries-old Swedish tradition of longcase clockmaking, maintaining the classic tall case form and mechanical movement that has defined Mora clocks for generations.
Mora Clock Set-Up
Setting up a Mora clock is straightforward, and full instructions are included with the clock. The two weights are hung at the end of their chains/cords, and the pendulum is attached. Swinging the pendulum starts the clock running. The mechanism is a 7-day movement, meaning the clock needs winding once a week.
