Mora Clock Details
This is a rare signed antique Swedish Mora clock, dated 1840 and decorated with hand-painted Swedish floral detailing. It carries exceptional provenance: the clockmaker's initials "AAL" and the town name "Mora" are marked on the face, with a Swedish inscription to the base — a direct, documented link to the individual craftsman and the Dalarna town where it was made.
Signed and inscribed Mora clocks from the mid-19th century are especially prized by collectors, as most surviving clocks are unsigned. It takes the classic hourglass silhouette of the Swedish longcase clock, the Scandinavian counterpart to the grandfather clock.
The clock retains a working longcase movement with pendulum and two weights, striking a bell chime on the hour. It is a traditional 7-day mechanism, rewound once a week, with full set-up instructions included.

Mora Clock Set-Up
Setting up a Mora clock is straightforward, and full instructions are included with the clock. The two weights are hung at the end of their chains/cords, and the pendulum is attached. Swinging the pendulum starts the clock running. The mechanism is a 7-day movement, meaning the clock needs winding once a week.
