This Mora clock has been hand painted in a soft brown colour and has hand painted gold detailing around the rim of the clock and a gold pattern painted around the viewing window of the clock. There is a gold pattern in the lower base as well.
The clock has a carved crown which also has gold painted details. The base of the clock is curved and we believe this clock dates from the early part of the 18th century.
The clock has its original mechanism and this mechanism has been serviced in the last 3 months. The mechanism will run for 8 days and will require to be wound before the end of this period. There is a single hammer which strikes a single bell and so the chime is a single tone but for the number of hours at that particular time, ie 4 o'clock with be 4 chimes.
The condition of this clock is generally good although there are signs of wear where paint work has worn away from the body of the clock. These patches are visible in the photos below and are consistent with the age of this clock.
This Mora Clock has its original works, two cast iron weights and pendulum.
